Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept Subsidy (Affordable Child Care Benefit) ?
Yes, the Affordable Child Care Benefit is a monthly payment to help eligible families with the cost of child care. Factors like income, family size, and type of care determine how much support families may receive. Families need to renew their application every year.
Use the Affordable Child Care Benefit Estimator to see how much funding you may be eligible to receive. This estimation is not a guarantee of payment and should be used as a guide only. It does not consider all individual circumstances.
Are you enrolled in the Parent Fee Reduction Initiative?
All families in British Columbia with children under the age of 12 are eligible for a government-funded Parent Fee Reduction when enrolled in programs of 4 hours or more per day as well as preschool. There is no application process—savings are applied automatically and passed on directly through HRCC. Tuition fees and security deposits already reflect the reduced rate. This program is not income tested, so every family benefits.
Here is an example of how much you can save on childcare:
Can I come in for a tour?
YES! Touring a potential childcare centre is an incredibly important step in finding the right fit for your family. Every centre has its own unique approach, environment, and philosophy, and visiting in person allows you to get a true sense of the space and how your child will be cared for. A tour also gives you the opportunity to ask questions, observe daily routines, and see the educators in action. The more centres you visit, the clearer your understanding will be of what aligns best with your family’s needs and values, helping you make a confident and informed decision.
Your tour will be approximately twenty - thirty minutes as we go over all the information pertaining to our centre & program to ensure Holistic Roots is the right place for you. What we will be covering during the tour will be:

How do I see the details of my child’s day?
At Holistic Roots, we recognize that parent communication is a vital part of every child’s developmental success. To keep families connected, we use an app called Lillio. This platform allows parents to message staff directly and provides daily updates on your child’s routine—meals, toileting, and nap schedule—along with photos and videos from their day. Families can also invite extended family members to join, so grandparents and loved ones can follow along, celebrate milestones, and comment on special moments.
Pick-up and drop-off can be hectic, and these are often the times when parents want to check in about their child’s development. Lillio allows teachers to send thoughtful updates, so parents can read and respond at their convenience—away from little ears and without the distractions of the busy classroom. It also gives parents the convenience of notifying the centre when a child will be away due to a home day, doctor’s appointment, or illness with just a click of a button. Every classroom has an iPad for staff use, making Lillio the easiest way to communicate with teachers and stay connected throughout the day.
